Hi Thomas,
I was trained to be a tradional animator, but work a lot with Flash, so maybe I
am able to help you..
Both the scanner can be used, as the method of drawing directly into Flash, it
depends on what you need and what works best for you. Scanning often comes down
to tracing all the drawings in Flash, which takes a lot of time..it must be
worth it. I try to skip as many details as possible and turn everything into
symbols.
Drawing on paper is for me the easiest way to animate: flipping in Flash
doesn't work quite so fast and so clear, so in Flash I prefer to animate with
symbols, using motion guides and masks..and still try to make it look like a
real animation..not something stiff.
I can't tell you out of the blue what you should or shouldn't do..there is so
much to animation. You really need to have a good structure in order to stay
organized.
You might want to look at some of the things I did, and then ask me some more
precise questions ?
Good luck,
Chris
