I'm glad you're able to get on with your work. For what it's worth,
fixed-resolution pixel-based images are more a sideshow than the main
attraction in this fast-loading, resolution-independent delivery format.
What you describe has happened to others too.
If you have to stuff a SWF with photographs, then try using a dedicated
JPEG compressor to crunch the file down (Fireworks is the strongest here),
and after importing the photo set the bitmap's library options to "use
external JPG compression". (The Macromedia Flash authoring tool itself can
apply generic JPEG compression to all bitmaps, but for significant
photographic content then it's better to tune the compression toe ach
image.)
Sometimes people make buttons in Photoshop, just because they already
learned that photo-procesor... it's much stronger to make vector-based
buttons in Macromedia Flash itself.
