You can open up a LiveMotion SWF... it's usually a little funky, but it's a
way to transfer artwork. (LiveMotion doesn't export sequential Illustrator
files like Macromedia Flash does.)
The SWF file format is optimized for delivery, though, and doesn't contain
a range of editing structures like a FLA does. It's hard to figure how to
translate some Livemotion entities however... they call one part of an
object "a layer", like a dropshadow or a bitmap fill, so it's hard to
figure how they would transfer to Flash's industry-standard use of "layer"
as "a stackable collection of individually editable objects".
Although it's *possible* to open LiveMotion SWFs, it may not be worth the
hassle... their interface is set up to entice people to create bitmap-heavy
SWFs, and you may have more cleanup work to do than is reasonable. What you
*might* consider is having your editor to proof-of-concept work in some
other SWF-producing tool, and then you create the tight final deliverables
in Macromedia Flash itself.
But then again, if your creative director isn't confident enough of their
abilities to use the standard toolset, then they may be designing bad SWFs
too... technotes #14300 and #14494 can help orient people to this new
delivery medium.
It's a difficult job you have there... smoothest overall might be if you
sit down with that person for a few F5 sessions so they see that they can
actually do it.
