I followed your posts, but I will admit that I didn't have time to fully
investigate. Have you considered sending this to Tech Support? The email
form is below.

It would be worthwhile to ask them about this, and give them minimal steps
to reproduce. If you can outline how this file can be created to make a
situation happen, the tech can investigate and give you a more detailed
explanation of what is happening. From my limited exposure to this issue, I
can't say if it's a bug or intended behavior, but it does sound like you
have zeroed in on what was causing the problem for you.
