in illustrator 9, you can use the new export to flash ability.  go to

file:export:then choose FLASH (swf) as yr file type.  you can then

import that .swf into flash.


you have 3 options for how to export to .swf.

1. ai file to swf file

2. ai layers to swf frames

3. ai layers to swf files


here's how they work.

1.  it puts the the whole illustration on one frame and one layer in

flash.  this might be fine if it's just one illustration.  but if you

need to pick it apart at all, it's one pain in the ass.


2.  it takes layer1 (from illustrator) and puts it on the first two

frames in flash.  then layer2 on the next 2 frames. etc.


3.  takes layer1 from file.ai and makes it file_L1.swf.  then layer2 of

file.ai and makes it file_L2.swf.  etc.


the only thing that i find annoying about all of these is that it makes

every object from illustrator a symbol in flash.  naming them symbol 1,

symbol 2, symbol 3, etc.


and it doesn't use yr groups to define symbols.  example:  imagine you

have a tic-tac-toe board drawn in illustrator by using 4 lines.  and

then you select all of them and group them.  when you export to swf it

will make each of those lines a separate symbol.


i've included some examples for you to see.


if you want the .ai file too, i can send that offline.  it's 116k.  and

i don't wanna hit modem folks to hard.
