Well, in the case of your project, Brian, I say it is different than a
typical web/Internet relationship. I honestly don't get why people are so
afraid to develop a close enough relationship with a client who is capable
of rendering the file produced.

He (the letter) has defined some objectives that you will not be able to
overcome. That letter is cut and dry. Give us the source or walk.

Me personally, having been in the web business for almost 5 years (that
really is a loooong time by Internet standards) have always wanted to create
client relationships that allowed them to sort of take over after I
developed. Being a webmaster for various and different sites never appealled
to me and I easily saw my time being webmaster progressively eat at my time
developing new stuff (which is only what I want to do). I have been creating
sites that have two interfaces. The front-end public interface and the back
end site owner interface with a certain degree of easy content mangement.

In a nutshell - Are you selling them a self produced single movie *or* a
component to a larger thing. A client has the right to dictate terms. A
freelancer has the right to turn them down, walk away.

I say quit stressing, say OK, have fun doing the work, see how it goes and
then make your decision for the future. Plus, it will just make it much
easier to get another contract, perhaps several to choose from where you can
start dictating some of the terms when all your prospects see your work at
BIGNAME media company. Just make sure you are getting paid what you're
worth.

Being new to Flash as you are, you may also find this an invaluable learning
opportunity working with people accross open fla's. Plus I know you need the
work. This isn't the Mona Lisa you are creating. It's a great opportunity to
work with a BIGNAME media company, learn a few things and then tell us how
to do it from your own experience.

Go get em tiger . . . we're counting on you ;)

So, what would you folks do?
They still want the .FLA files.
I don't get it.
