I like them too... I just wish they weren't so buggy.
The alternative I use now is multiple FLA files. I
produce the final SWF from a master FLA that is
a combination of the other FLAs. The only
drawback is that the multiple FLAs don't share the
same library, but that isn't very hard to work around.
