If you have "Swish" they have a built in typewriter effect and its pretty
good, its got the cursor and all.

If you dont wanna dish out the 20 bucks then you could use the masking
effect but i always find that to be lamelooking. I tend to animate each
individual letter. If you do use masking set a key frame every single frame,
so the mask doesnt cover up part of the word.
