Try starting with http://www.emarketer.com/ that has a lot to offer for
anyone wanting to know current trends and best practices.

A lot of people will have told you to read anything by Seth Godin
 (apparently you should read at least one in your life time)

But I think you'd appreciate anything by David Meerman Scott like his
book The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use Social Media, Blogs,
News Releas... by David Meerman Scott
