Hi John,

WURFL (http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/) is probably the canonical list of 
mobile devices and capabilities but recently they changed their 
licensing to AGPL which is "extremely free" and prevents you using the 
code in your website without releasing all of your own source code. 
Effectively that's a non-starter for all commercial businesses but you 
can licence it from their business arm, http://www.scientiamobile.com/
