Hello again Ty I actually think it¹s much more complicated than that... And really your question is impossible to answer. A very complex site may have more points of potential failure, but from the clients point of view, having paid for it presumably it should just work¹ as much as a very simple site. It must also be about the relationship you have with your client. You are bound by Law to pay your costs and increase shareholder value, like wise the client. So these stresses make for managing relationships rather than just coming up with a number. I would consider being very prescriptive about the type of ongoing work, so general maintenance (keeping the site live and doing what it should be doing) would be a cost you could agree. But enhancing the site (adding features) would presumably be costed separately. Is adding content maintenance or enhancements? Be careful what you agree about things like upgrades, which can cause havoc if you need to update the underlying server structure for example, but is difficult to predict or even explain to clients. Again, there are much more knowledgeable people on this list than I, so I bow to their expertise.
