Yep, sencha gives a simple, out of the box tool set.

http://the-m-project.org/ (open source) is worth looking at if you want to
get your hands really dirty and have the skilled development team
required. Node.js and jquery mobile goodness (etc)

there are other interesting projects in this space too.

on the subject of html5 mobile app development this just caught my eye
http://bit.ly/IOkNLe the rather splendid new LinkedIn app is 95% browser
powered. The best functional app, that isn’t an app that I’ve seen.
Interesting comments on responsive design, but I think he rather misses
the point that responsive does not imply same interface for different
devices, or not in my book anyways.

makes investment in native app development seem rather one dimensional….

Hi,

One caveat - our developers who are CSS and Javascript experts would
caution you heavily against using Sencha. They found it great for simple
stuff but customisation was a nightmare. Their advice is to roll your own
or use Jquery!

Hi Chas,

Have you considered doing this yourself?

If you treated it like a touch enabled tablet / mobile device you could
approach it like a mobile web project / HTML5 web application.

something like www.sencha.com would give you the toolset (including Sencha
touch).

HTML5 supports offline content, so you could wrap it all up in an offline
container, you could even use a thin application and package up the
preferred browser within it.

That would then support updates over the web when you wanted – and you
could run it on many different devices (assuming appropriate use of CSS3
for device specific styles).

Just a thought..

Hi All

Has anyone worked with any providers of interactive walls, tables etc. I am
looking at a requirement for advanced touch screen applications within the
context of an experiential installation at a trade show.

Would love to hear of any potential suppliers.

Cheers

Chas
