This is an excellent question rod, i am often asked the same question. The
answer i give is:
1. A table is for laying out tables of data and not website content. It is
just wrong to use it for any other purpose than the one it was intended for.
2. With div's u are laying content out and have many more options for doing
so. You are no longer restricted to content in columns and rows
3. You can dramtically change the layout of the content with divs based on
some action, like a different screen size. I do not agree with u about
tables on mobiles.

I'm sure someone will be able to offer a more detailed reason and i look
forward to reading the replies.

Thanks
Dominic
