Only if you really use it and have a plan how to get the best out of it. There are some companies that do some amazing things with it but it's not immediately apparent what you can do and how you can get the best from it.

A few examples:

- use Mosaic to see what demographics you get to the site and what demographics your competitors get, compare the demographics with those of your customers (provided you have post codes) and spot the opportunities to better convert populations, find websites that your demographics visit for partnerships, banners etc. Mosaic can be insightful as it's ready built personas
- competitive research - create a portfolio of all keywords in your space and see who gets the most traffic from natural and paid search, and compare how your competitor benefitted from a campaign, who gets most from a keyword or keyword group and think why  (if they get a lot if natural search traffic from a keyword look at their landing pages etc)
- get an idea of actual traffic figures to your competitors, the Hitwise data is from 25% of UK USPs and extrapolated, but if you compare what they think you get with your real numbers you can get a decent feel for what their traffic is by using a similar metric

If you don't have a plan and people ready to do this, and you will need to work closely with Hitwise, then you are wasting your money and you would be better off with Compete, Alexa, Keyword Spy, SpyFu etc.

Hitwise do some nice seminars and will devote time to train you, but their biggest failing is the lack of self help training/tools (compare with say Google)
