there's a company here called "fusion one" which offers users free storage
& communication between several devices. in my mind, as i can't access my
work files from home, it's a nifty way to store data & my appointments. you
can synch from remote locations. here's the URL -- http://www.fusionone.com
their model is two-fold. as they ask a series of questions when you sign
up, they have built in ad-based revenues & targeted marketing. they also
use the tool to serve corporate intranets in terms of offering companies
virtual hard drive space for employees. this is probably the bread & butter
of their long term financial goals.
we had a presentation this week and from a user perspective, it works well.
give it a whirl. as they are new, the most current number i had was 300K
registered users & growing daily.
if you want to query other virtual hard drive companies like free drive & x
drive, you might want to have a media planner contact them and get an RFP.
usually you can get an indication from there.
cheers from this side of the pond,

Hello all
Quick question (probably not, actually...). Does anyone out there have any
experience of the business model that backs the virtual hard drive
sites? Are they purely ad revenue based, or is there something more to it?
Also, where would I find out how many registered users they had?
I've got a customer who's thinking about setting one up as a by product of
another project, but he can't work out how to make it pay beyond the basics.
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Andy
