I'd agree that Nielsen makes a lot of obvious points, but then that's
becuase...
1/ So many people still don't get them
2/ So many people are willing to pay $20,000 a day to have those obvious
points
explained to them by the Man Himself.

Wouldn't you do a Jakob if you could get away with it?

As for branding/aesthetic issues, the central thrust of all he says is that
the
user experience comes first, and is much more important than, say,
shockwaved
versions of the company logo. And I'd say navigation was a pretty important
aesthetic issue, too.

But then both those points are dead obvious as well, aren't they?
