If so, he's a muppet for his own time.
Much of what he writes is about balancing communication clarity with speed/
attention span. Like you say, common sense. And designers are rarely paid to
be
sensible... they're more likely to be hired for being innovative, which
right
now usually means using/ pushing technology.
But as bandwidth/processing speed & user familiarity grow, then Jacob will
have
to move on from "designing sites with a left hand, 4 piece nav bar and
plain,
non-formatted text on the right" or face being yesterday's muppet.
And anyway, how many clients will actually pick a 'common sense' design over
an
'interesting' one?
So who's the real villain?
