Yes, they do stand an earthly. The Virgin Group has an excellent history of
strategic vision, good to excellent implementation and long-term focus on brand
value.
Whether or not Richard Branson types his own email does not matter (he is
not, we assume, coding any HTML himself). I doubt if he balances his own chequebooks,
but that didn't stop his company having an enormous impact on the financial
services market.
At best, this could be as big a re-orientation for Virgin as when BillG
famously "got it" about the internet around (when was it exactly?) mid 1996.
