Well, not necessarily true! You still have to establish the initial connection over the current UK bearers by dialling up but then after that you have continuous or temporary connections you can set so you can limit the time "online" on the phone. This is not recommended though as the dial up time is currently about 20 seconds and wouldn't be fun if you had to do this each time you linked to a new card.

True enough, but I wouldn't describe it as a competitor to WAP. If anything it will drive WAP beyond many people's wildest dreams. There's still a lot of 2D thinking happening with WAP and i-mode that has to be overcome before the truly innovative realism for wireless applicationning can be realised.
