Morning all - Been AWOL for the last couple of years but glad to be back!!


Very interesting indeed.  Many dial-up ISP companies are moving to free

dial-up in the US so that they can "up the anti" and start to sell (or

re-sell) DSL (or cable modems) as the new standard of connection to those

who want to afford it, whilst giving free ISP/PC to the as yet unconnected.


Until the dial-up barrier is gone the US market will remain stagnant (well

its all relative - only 8% growth a year).  The belief is that DSL is the

way towards home networks and whole loada more products for consumers to

buy! (oops, there goes my new years resolution of no cynicism!)


I wonder if they will meet with success....  stranger things have happened!
