I remember going to one of these Internet shows and having a chat with one
of the Phone-Me people. It is an ingenious idea - and one that I would have
considered using - apart from the fact that 70% of our customers are
overseas and we only make a few quid on each sale (if you are in this
position - I suggest you buy the overseas rate card first!!!).
For sites focused on a particular country it is an excellent way to improve
customer relations and contact. It can also be the 'Action' moment (AIDA).
It works by taking the number that you provide and queuing it at the 'host
company' end. Once a telephone Customer Services person is ready - it will
call them first and then, once they have picked up the 'call', it will ring
the customer automatically. Rather like that ring-back function through BT.
It charges all the calls at regular rates and the 'host' company foots the
bill (in most cases).
