UKNM: small businesses marketing on the internet

i am a final year student at lancaster university, studying for a marketing

degree. i am writing a dissertation looking at the feasibilty and

effectiveness of small businesses using the internet as a marketing tool. i

was just wondering if any of you had any insights or inputs into this, or

indeed of you know of any small businesses who have either thrived or failed

on the internet. i am not looking at internet businesses who sell on the

internet but at small businesses who advertise or market their

services/business on the net. i am particularly interested in registration

with search engines and the importance of domain names.
