Hi Sandra

If there's one thing that I have learnt in my time working on the Internet -
If someone uses 'hits' then they don't know what they're talking about. It's
even more stupid when they don't even know how many hits they can provide
you with: ie. if they gave me 100 click-throughs in a month, but the
homepage only had 8 graphics - that's 800 hits a month, if the homepage has
50 graphics then that's 5,000 hits a month (before the customer browses
through the site). The Just35 thing has been done, well toasted on both
sides, spread with some jam and then eaten.

By the way, thanks for all the responses about domain name hosting (both on
and off list) I needed some ammunition and you, very kindly, gave it to me.
Hopefully this 'big ISP' will reconsider it's invoice to me. It infuriates
me when this is done by companies that you have a relationship with (they
also provide a leased line and dial-up service to us) because they don't
expect you to shop around and hope that your accounts department will sign
it off without passing it around. I can't wait for them to tell me that
domain name transfer costs 200 or something equally obscene - watch the
heat rise!

On a similar note, does anyone else get wound up by the Lastminute 'special
offers' on domain names in their HTML emails?

Cheers

John B

Asking how they could prove the number of hits to my site they told me that
they could only provide limited statistical information and not (surprise,
surprise) unique visitor stats. In that case, will you refund our money if
we don't get the visitors? Hoarse laugh at the other end - "it's only 950
and you're the only person who cares if it works".

The Just 35 conversation then took an abusive turn finishing with "if it's
good enough for the BBC it should be good enough for you. Everybody else
has said that if it works, great and if not, they don't care". And I was
left holding an empty phone.

Regards
Sandra Lees
