.Com Fever, Is it really over?
I notice that the media are now trumpetting the fact that .com fever
is over and judging by the number of companies dumping the .com suffix
from their names maybe it is.
<snip>
IMHO.....Nope - just like any other emerging industry that has had a major
impact over the past 100 years, it is going into the "wheat from chaff"
stage - though in keeping with the internet industry, somewhat faster than
others.
Having just flown back from the States, I was reminded of a comment made by
Andrew Neil at a conference recently....."none of the airlines that existed
pre 1960 exist today in their original format"
Watch the dross waste away, along with the poorly managed businesses and
expect the strong to get stronger, newcomers to learn from the mistakes of
others (well some hopefully) and the share price to do the same.
Naturally this will have a major impact on governments revenues as I am
certain that Gordon Brown was putting up the tax on cigarettes purely
because the back of a packet seemed de-rigeur for many a .com business plan
:)
