Subject: UKNM: Tesco's Promise!! Haaaa
From: Fiona McLeod

The home delivery service has got a very long way to go, almost every aspect
of it is out of sync at the moment....

Tesco's Home-Delivery state that if they are out of a product they will
bring the next best thing. I order a bottle of Sauvignon-Blanc, they deliver
a bottle of Claret!!!

I was told that the order would be delivered between 6pm & 7pm (so I leave
work early) & they eventually rock up at 9pm, completely screwing up cooking
for my friends who arrived at 8pm.

My total bill came to 75 (very high for all that I got, I thought) and on
checking my order against the food that arrived found that they were 35
out. THEY HAD NOT DELIVERED THIRTY FIVE POUNDS WORTH OF MY ORDER. It took me
about 20 mins to go through what had been ordered against what had arrived,
but by that stage I had a bee in my bonnet!!!

That is a CRAP service.

I'm convinced the answer will come, and will be something that is
revolutionary rather than evolutionary. Some of the "collection point" ideas
from the US look interesting but still seem to be fundamentally flawed.
Ironically whenever I order something for delivery to my home I seem to end
up taking a "we tried to deliver a parcel to you" card down to the sorting
office so why not cut out the middle (post) man and just leave it there for
me in the first place?

Or is it even more of an irony that no-one can successfully deliver a
fulfillment solution?

Robin
