Apart from the obvious meta-tagging and use of various bits of seeding
software (and all the other things previously discussed here, one of the
most effective free tips is to take your list of keywords and simply do
some searches within the search engines on those criteria and see what
comes up at the top.

Then spend some time visiting the various sites at the top and have a
look at what they are doing with their meta-tags, their html, how they
name their images to increase the score calculated by some of the deep
search engines (eg you get a greater factor applied to a keyword if it
is in the <Title> than if it is just in the <Body> and so on).

And then keep monitoring and repeating the process.....
