An incredibly flexible solution could be to use Openshop (www.openshop.com)
It can run on any system, link to any ODBC datasource, the e-logistics can
plug into Fed-ex and UPS, it handles all the payment systems. It can also
get straight into your ERP systems. Doesn't need cookies, it is the fastest
shopping engine I have seen.

Also it does have Corba/COM/XML interfaces to link into any other system you
may have.

Its easy to use and your frontend can be anything ASP/CGi/Perl what ever,

At what cost only 3000 per UK licence.

Its not really for the end user, but for a Web Development company looking
for a Web shop backend integration/Components set this is the best for the

We are currently experimenting with some "off-the-shelf" e-commerce
packages, including InterShop 4, with the hope of simplifying the site
build. However, as anticipated these proprietary solutions appear to be
incredibly inflexible.

Does the list have any views on these kind of packages, especially
experience of using them ... otherwise it's back to PERL.
