UKNM: Search Engine Listings - Software or not?

I am presently looking at submitting a site to the search engines. What is

the best way to do this and what will give the best results?


1. Software - such as webpositiongold (or others - suggestions?)


2. Manual submissions


I  would ideally like to outsource it to a specialist company but budget is

limited.  Any idea of costs associated with this?
