Subject: UKNM: Got any stats gov?
From: Terry Kendrick
Date: Mon, 9 Oct 2000 14:49:39 +0100

Anyone feeling generous enough to point me in the direction of research
which shows how people-who-actually-bought-online came to the website? I'm
interested in the relative importance of search engines and off-line
marketing. I have this feeling that search engines are good for getting
"clicks" (so may be good for some incredibly general awareness building)
but are not an important part of the sales process. I'm interested in
those who bought - not just those who visited a site.

I'm only really scaling up from mine and a couple of friends' experience so
would be grateful for any hard data here. Absolutely all of our purchases
were without the aid of a search engine. Is this unusual or typical? Any
calls on the most effective relative spend on online / offline marketing?
How are our e-metrics doing?

Terry
