Dotcom failures fail for the same reason any other business fails:

1. Spend too much money too quickly
2. Don't earn enough (or any) money quickly enough
3. Fail to plan for either of the above and/or fail take action when it
happens

If you want to elaborate on any of these then you might find any combination
of too many staff, too highly paid, not properly incentivised, directors
with big, flash cars, long leases on over-grand offices, no accurate revenue
predictions, failure to manage cash flow, failure to address the market
need, failure to even look at what the market might need, failure to get up
in the morning, lack of will to wear a suit when a suit is required, lack of
imagination, lack of conviction, failure to respond to lack of progress,
poor recruitment, bad training, failure to understand the importance of
customer service, failure to work within given budget and other limitations,
desire to grow more rapidly than market will bear, etc, etc.
