You see, I don't feel that self-perpetuating = viral. I think that
self-perpetuating is another (debatably higher) level of stickiness.

If the cartoon's were recognisable and memorable, and were unique to the
brand, thus reminding you of the brand whenever you saw them, they were
branded... :-)
