Don't forget the so-called 'back office' function of eFulfilment.   I'll put

my

hand up straight away and declare an interest in this arena, but the point

remains valid - it's one thing to get the visitors to your site and ordering

but

even tougher to make sure they come back time and time again.  Besides great

marketing comms, tracking, payment  and web site design, you need to

consider

how you will...


Accurately tell them what is in stock / will be shortly available in stock

Offer a range of delivery windows

Manage your inventory to avoid stock write off's but maximise stock

availability

Get your suppliers to own the inventory for you (just like Dell)

Pick inventory for orders in the most efficient and accurate way

Create 1-1 marketing activities within the fulfilment process that

personalise

each order

Meet your delivery promises


Don't forget that distribution channel management, or fulfilment, is part of

the

marketing mix!
