so do the Legal 500 www.legal500.com - although, as its name suggests, this

is limited to the 500 (or so) leading firms.


Finally, for certain specialisms, an outfit called New City Media produce

so-called "insiders' guides" at www.ncm.co.uk.


Both of these - and Chambers - are geared to helping clients find firms that

do certain types of work well - see for example NCM's review of my firm's

e-commerce practice at

http://www.ncm.co.uk/pec/ecfirms.asp?FirmName=Olswang&Sector=E-Commerce&Titl

eTicked=Yes  (shameless plug) rather than to calculating basic numbers of

employees etc.


If the latter is what you are looking for, the Law Society is working on

putting its directory online within www.lawsociety.org.uk  but it is not yet

up.
