Just a very short addendum after reading someone's experiences of The
Trainline:
I went on holiday a couple of weeks back and wanted to book a train from
Olympia to Gatwick (a good tip for anyone living in West London (40 minutes
and about 10 cheaper than Gatwick Express!). I went to The Trainline and
tried to book it - they wanted to charge 17.00 for an open return -
therefore 34.00 for two. With their SUPERSPECIALLOVELY discount I could
have ordered the tickets for 32.00.... however I was worried at the short
notice so I decided to buy the tickets on the day ->
When I went to order the tickets I was asked for 15.60 for each ticket...
making 31.20 for two. I checked - open return, travelling on the same day,
same ticket.
Which leads me to suggest that people should check the prices quoted on The
Trainline as they aren't always the exact fare... which makes me also wonder
how many other consumers are being 'skimmed' like this.... hmm... anyone
from The Trainline like to explain?
