Ladies and Gentlemen, Gustav Holst's classical spectacular The Planets by has been used widely in pop culture including The Man Who Fell to Earth starring David Bowie, whilst the menacing Mars: The Bringer of War has been heard in everything from TV documentaries to the background music for Nintendo Super Mario Bros 3. Similarities have also been drawn between Holst's Mars and film scores including the music of Gladiator (Hans Zimmer) and the Imperial March from Star Wars composed by John Williams. And now for the first time ever, the public can remix The Planets and listen to a new companion piece called Worlds, Stars, Systems, Infinity. Combining innovative use of technology and a 39 camera shoot - the biggest multi-camera recording of a classical music work of its kind - users can choose which section of the orchestra to follow as they play the piece, or create their own audio-visual version of the piece by reshuffling and reordering audio samples on a timeline. <http://thespace.org/items/e0001ejw> http://thespace.org/items/e0001ejw This latest project forms part of our ongoing digital PR and social media campaign for The Space, the new digital arts service developed by Arts Council England in partnership with the BBC.
