Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

Did you know that John Peel's vast record collection, which consists of
26,000 LPs, 40,000 singles and many thousands of CDs, is so prized that even
the British Museum considered housing it to preserve for future generations?

 

Back in May we started to unveil Peel's record collection in alphabetical
order. This week we come to the end of the collection and the featured Z
artist is none other than Zion Train.

 

Here's a clip of Peel's wife Sheila Ravenscroft introducing Zion Train with
band member Neil Perch reminiscing about recording John's radio show and why
he was so special to musicians.

As part of the campaign we unveiled a virtual recreation of the late
broadcaster's home studio and library which allowed fans to flick through
his record collection, radio sessions and view unseen documentary footage.

The unveiling of John Peel's record collection and virtual online studio is
part of our ongoing digital PR and social media strategy for digital arts
service The Space, a joint initiative by the Arts Council England in
partnership with the BBC.
