Event Info
Description

Option 1 - Fibrecamp Britain
Access
to Next Generation Broadband will soon be critical for rural &
deprived areas who’ll miss out on BT & Virgin’s services. The
private sector has shown little appetite to invest in “broadband
notspots” leaving the way clear for social enterprises. Cybermoor and
CBN have lead the way in developing community owned Next Generation
Access networks and aim to share this best practice with other
communities. The Government’s new broadband levy will channel up to
£175M into Next Generation Access, so how can communities work together
to create their own Next Gen infrastructure?
The outcomes of the workshop will be:
- Greater understanding of how to develop your own Next Generation Access Network.
- Clearer idea of the next steps in getting a Next Generation Access project off the ground.
The workshop will cover real life examples
from customer support, digging trenches, laying fibre and cost of
connection per home. The workshop leaders are: Brian Condon, Director
CBN; Daniel Heery, Project Manager Cybermoor and Director CBN; Adrian
Wooster, CTO CBN; Steve Spillane, Director CBN; Kevin Wood, Team Leader
Cybermoor; Helen Anderson, Director South Witham Broadband Ltd and Jez
Wilcox, Senior Network Consultant Allied Telesis International.
