PechaKucha London App Edition
Event Info
Description
Whether you love them or hate them, mobile applications have become a part of our daily existence thanks to the phenomenal success of the Apple iPhone. There are currently hundreds of thousands of apps to be found across virtual stores in a variety of phone formats, and they are only increasing in popularity since the mobile phone became so smart!
PechaKucha London: App Edition will take the creative presentation format of 20x20 (20 slides with 20 seconds per slide) and devote it to mobile apps for an evening in this one-off event.
PechaKucha was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. Find out more here http://www.pecha-kucha.org/
For App Edition, presenters can share information or a life experience involving one app or many. For example, an app developer can show off his/her latest work. Or a designer may use data/screenshots from many different apps to weave a story around a larger theme.
If you have an iPhone/iPad it's easy to get into the creative spirit and present! The focus is on having fun, and giving money to a good cause.
It costs one pound to attend the event, and all proceeds go to the charity AbilityNet.Gov: http://www.abilitynet.org.uk/
