GameHack: Games 4 Good
Event Info
Description
When we launched the first GameHack event in April, we were overwhelmed with interest about the event and had countless requests asking us to visit other areas of the UK.Today we are very excited to announce that GameHack is hitting the road and will be in Birmingham on the 17th and 18th November for GameHack: Games 4 Good!
Games for good
We all love games, that’s why we make them. Games bring people together to share, learn and have fun, it doesn’t matter if they are in the same room or across the globe.
What if we harnessed that potential? What if we created games that were great fun but also tried to help make the world a better place? We think it’s an exciting idea, which is why we are trying something new and having a theme for the next GH – Games for Good.
The potential for games to help good causes are limitless and together with TheGivingLab.org API we can create games that drive real change. This could be offering in game items for charity donations, trying to raise awareness of a cause or ideal – demonstrating the effects of deforestation perhaps? We think there is a world of opportunity out there for you to help make things better and have fun doing it!
Sponsors and Prizes
We want to put Britain’s most generous gamers on the map, so we’ve teamed with TheGivingLab.org to arranged support for the best ideas to make it to market and start making a difference (There’s also £200 for a great team dinner on the day it’s released to the real world!) PLUS start up advertising and publicity budget ready for release day and mentoring from some of Britain’s top game heroes! Also, Adobe will also be awarding the best Flash Game for Good, so keep an eye out for more info here! TIGA will also be giving away some great prizes!
GameHack wouldn’t happen without our sponsors, we’re really excited to have TIGA, Adobe and TheGivingLab.orgon board as our main partners for GameHack: G4G.
Tickets
Registration is now open, tickets cost £5 and like other GameHack events proceeds will be given to our chosen charity: SpecialEffect.
See you in Birmingham!
