CW TEC Overview
Welcome to our first Cambridge Wireless Technology Engineering Conference (CW TEC). Launched in response to a community thirsty for detailed technical know-how, it promises in-depth debate and analysis around the most up-to-date concerns and developments in the wireless technology engineering sector.
On 24 March 2015 CW will bring together industry experts to offer exclusive insights and examine the influence of technologies and the future of mobile, satellite, TV, IOT and wearable technology and its impact on the value of licensed and unlicensed spectrum from VHF to KA band and beyond. Taking place six months before WRC 2015, the event highlights the relationship between technology innovation and the economics of broadband delivery and examines whether present technologies should become more similar or dissimilar over time examining the relative merits of a one size fits all approach versus application and market specific technology and standards evolution.
CW TEC will address the technical challenges of delivering low cost mobile broadband connectivity into developed and developing economies and the specific challenge of delivering high EBITDA from low ARPU markets comparing the sparse network topologies characteristic of terrestrial broadcasting and GSO and LEO satellites with the increasingly dense network deployments promoted by the LTE mobile broadband vendor and operator community and examining some of the hidden costs of the presently relentless focus on high peak per user data rates.
CW TEC builds on the debate as to whether user needs are converging or diverging and whether present R&D priorities are too narrowly or too broadly focussed. The agenda develops over four sessions:
Session 1: Terrestrial and satellite integration – a key part of the 4G to 5G transition?
Session 2: WiFi and low earth orbit satellites: a microwave delivery revolution?
Session 3: Terrestrial broadcasting and mobile broadband - the UHF story and beyond
Session 4: Machine to Machine and wearable connectivity
As with many CW events we regard the audience as an immensely important resource and each of the four sections will be structured to capture comment and promote debate on present and future technical choices and their commercial consequence.
We are expecting over 200 delegates including engineers and financial analysts from the mobile broadband community and anyone with an interest in information and communication technologies. Attracting interest from communities with a specific interest in high data rate low latency wide area and local area wireless system technologies including the broadcast and content industry, specialist public safety and emergency response sectors, and satellite and sub space industry, this is the must-attend event for engineers in 2015.
