Description

Our relationship with work and technology is complicated.  We strive to reduce the difficulty and danger of work for people, but we want to keep our jobs-based economy.  For many people, work gives meaning to their lives and yet they hate their job.

In this series, we'll be looking at the gap between advances in technology and our social capacity to deal with them, especially in the context of how work is changing.

In this final event of this series, we'll be discussing the effects of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.  How does work change when everything you currently experience at the office can be strapped to your face?  If everything can be digitised and digitally manipulated, what work do we choose to do?  How augmented do you want your reality to be - isn't there enough information pouring in through your senses already?

To help us find our way through this, we'll have contributions from Iestyn Lloyd, Creative Technologist and 3D programmer and James Tagg of Truphone. More speakers tbc. This will be followed by an informal open space for discussions on "Can work be too virtual? Can it be over-augmented?"
