This isnt really the forum for a discussion of state policy. But, the 

reasons have nothing to do with Microsoft or US business all who what 

better international encryption.


The reason is that the US Congress is domininated by those still 

fighting the cold war. It will take a generation or so for these 

types to die off, but I think you'll get strong encryption before 

then.


I have another question for you. Why dont we see a browser with 

strong encryption written from a non-US company? Why is so little 

Great software written abroad. On my Mac, I can only think of 2 

programs I use regularly: GraphicConverter by Lempkesoft in Germany 

and 4th Dimension by ACI in France.
