i just tested this. it works completely. if you do not include the object
tag, the gap disappears.
so before i document this possible workaround, i need to know what the
ramifications of *not* using the object tag are? i tested on ie 3 and 5 on
pc, and ie 3 and 4.5 on mac. none of those seemed to mind the missing object
tag. so is the object tag only used for the codebase? that is, <object> is
only necessary if you want ie to do the autoinstall because the autoinstall
requires the codebase attribute to function? (or are there other issues with
not using the object tag?)
looking for the "official" word on it so i can update my "fill the browser
window" information.
