Subject: Re: FLASH: alpha doesnt work on a symbol

<snip>
I have this logo in AI format (PC) that was imported to Flash3 and converted
to a symbol. But I cant make the alpha effect work on it! I have tried
breaking apart and all other workarounds I could think of (not so many). Are
there any limitations to the original file, or what am I doing wrong?

Funny you should mention this Glenn.
I was just working on a logo done in ai format.

I have found that the alpha effect tends to be picky when you are dealing
with symbols imported into Flash. First of all, don't break up the synbol,
leave it as a single group. Insert the symbol into a keyframe and position
it exactly. Insert another Keyframe where you want the fade to end. Now go
to the two keyframes and change your alpha levels. After this is done click
on any frame between the two keyframes and modify the frame properties and
turn Tweening/Motion on.

Remember to make sure that you have the proper layer 'active' while you are
working. If this still gives you trouble, create a new movie just for the
fade and copy the frames to your desired movie when you are done. Quite a
few times I have experienced similar difficulties when doing both tweening
and Alpha channel effects. I honestly do not know what causes it?
