Copy and paste frames will solve the problem of a corrupted .fla file.
But if you also have a corrupted symbol in your library, then copy and
paste will just carry it to the new movie.

Try importing the problem library into a fresh clean movie with no
content yet. Will that also crash? That would certainly confirm that the
problem is with a particular symbol in that library. Then repeat the
process over and over but always omit one symbol from the import. If you
crash, then try leaving a different symbol behind. Continue until you
find the right combination that's causing the problem. With luck you may
come up with a movie that doesn't crash when symbol "XYZ" is not in its
library.
