I'll vouche...I use Edit Plus all the time. I built a syntax file and
autocomplete files for it to recognize actionscript. The FTP capabilities
are nice...once you save to a server once, whenever you save it
auto-uploads. Plus you can attach it to outside programs...for example, I've
got mine hooked up to the Java compiler and runtime. Works great.

edit plus for windows rocks. http://www.editplus.com/

it is from the NoteTab lineage. the most attractive features are the
paned-window interface, a snippets library, and syntax color-coding.
everything is fully customizable. i especially like editplus becuase you can
preview your files through a local server (http://localhost) , using the
built-in shell for IE.

NoteTab and EditPlus are both super cheap, and both offer free trials, so
you could try or even buy both of them with little risk. EditPlus has the
advantage that someone has written and shared a syntax file for
ActionScript, which allows you to view your code in color, just like in the
AS Panel in Flash.

let's see... what else... you can search/replace text in either tool using
regular expressions... both have built-in FTP clients, project management,
and a whole boatload of features.

anyway, NoteTab and EditPlus are both super-sweet. i personally prefer
EditPlus.
