hiding start menu). At N, the only things that separates the window, opened
by this way, from fullscreen, are start menu and window title.

Markki,
As to opening your browser full screen but not hiding the start bar is a
method i tried for awhile at a site i worked on. It involved a detection
script which detected which screen resolution the user was using. 640x480,
800x600, or 1024x768. based on resolution you could then open a window
exactly as you wished and after tweaking it a bit, i had each resolution
opening full screen but with the start bar still in view. (these were new
window instances covering the parent window, so subsequently worked on
netscape as well). The setback of this was of course you must set the x,y
placement so if someone had their start bar in a nontraditional place, their
bar would be covered. it only works, as i tweaked it, for the general
poplation that leaves their bar at the bottom of the screen. But as I said,
i "tried it" only for a while as most people commented that it was obtrusive
. . . and even left a distaste for the site since it seemingly took control
of their browser. Maybe someone has some other ideas.
