If this happens to you, you need to download the QuickTime Authoring component. Start the QuickTime Updater, connect to the internet, choose custom and select the QuickTime Authoring component. Their note says, "This custom package installs software which adds media creation support to QuickTime. You should consider purchasing QuickTime Pro (download approx. 830 KB)."
