I have a Cal comp pen and absolutly love it. I have also used a wacom pen
and
think that is great too. But pens have their down side as well. though
they are great for drawing, they are a pain in the ass for many other
programs such a Word and the like. They are hard to get used to. After a
long time using mine, I still struggle with certain things. But when it
comes to accuracy and freedom for drawing, they smoke a mouse.

As far a which one to buy, I will give you my go on that one. I think the
Wacom offers the most goodies. There is some cool software you can download
from their web site. But it is a pricey way to go. I bought the cal comp
6x9 tablet for about half of what the Wacom costs. The features are about
hte same. The only real difference I found is that Calcomp uses batteries
and the wacom does not. But I feel I can buy a lot of batteries for the $150
difference in price.

There are also some cofiguration issues to deal with at least as far as the
calcomp pen is concerned. It made for some difficulties with IRQ and com
port.

Pens are great, and I highly recommend them. But like anything else in life
when you gain something yu lose something.

"Wacoms
a little more expensive but worth every penny, everything else is simply a
waste of your time
and money."

This statement is simply not true. I have used Wacom and Calcomp. In using
them, I see little difference. My friend paid nearly the same price for his
4x5 wacom as I did for the 6x9 Calcomp. I can't argue that the Wacom is
not the best, I think it is. But if budget is any consideration, then you
should at least look at the Calcomp
