Subject: Slow animation on mid-range machines

Hey Flashers,

I've got a question for ya. I have an animation piece that is 600 x 400, and
I'm doing fade-ins and fade-outs on a large gradient sphere that takes up
roughly 2/3 of the screen.

Naturally, the animation runs fine when viewed from a PII/300, but on a
Pentium 150 laptop, it crawls (and don't even think about viewing it on a
Quadra!!!).

So, here's my question. Does Flash have performance issues with animations
that occur over a large area? Or, does Flash have performance issues with
color/alpha transistions with large gradient-filled objects?

I'm thinking that I may have to kill the large fade-in and only do small
animations in order to keep the speed up, or redesign the site without
gradients.

Any tips, ideas, etc. on how to improve performance in a flash movie?

Thanks in advance!

Jim
